DARREN EDWARDS looks set to capture his first Devon & Cornwall jockeys' title this year and moved on to the 15 winner mark for the season thanks to a double at Cherrybrook before a massive crowd.

Edwards won the Mixed Open on the consistent Lucette Annie who was achieving her seasonal hat trick. The mare revels in soft ground "She is ground dependant and will run next wherever it is soft enough. She is still scheduled to be covered by Black Sam Bellamy afterwards," said Simon Partridge, who handles her on behalf of owners Clare West and Janet Humphrey.

Dean Summersby's Flood Tide, completed the jockey's double in the Open Maiden. Alice Mills, hotfoot from riding her shock 80-1 winner at Newton Abbot, was chasing Flood Tide when her mount Angonaminute refused at the last fence.

Alice somersaulted over the obstacle minus her horse and the ups and downs of jumping were also well illustrated when Darren Edwards took a crashing fall from According To Harry in the Restricted won by Miss Gotaway. Horse and rider were unscathed as the winner strolled home to complete her third successive victory of the season. "She is so genuine and tough," exclaimed winning trainer Kayley Woollacott, saddling her 14th winner of the season.

The Emma Loosemore trained Diamond Brook (Leanda Tickle) gained reward for consistency when just overhauling the Woollacott runner King Kash to win the Confined, and It's All Or Nothing stayed on strongly when taking the eight-runner Restricted. David Noonan was partnering his fourth winner of the season on this progressive grey for owner Rob White and trainer Charlotte Rowe.

Dicky Bob rounded off his season with an easy win in the Members' under Jo Buck. "He has done enough winning five out of six and won't run again this season," reported owner/trainer Verity Nicholls.
