The Sinnington Hunt held their meeting this
Sunday at Duncombe Park Helmsley, despite the dreary weather a
respectable crowd turned out to enjoy some action packed racing.
111 horses ran on the day which resulted in the Confined race
having to be split and the majority of the days spoils went the way
of the Easterby, Coward and Greenall teams.
Division two was an even closer finish with only a neck separating the first two. Sherwood's Folly; who will be no doubt aimed towards Whitwell's feature race, took the spoils after a long battle with Impact Zone all the way up the run in, however Toby Greenall managed to clinch the race near the line. Impact Zone was gallant in defeat and should soon be following up, whilst Father Murtagh was a respectable third on his seasonal debut for Freya Brewer.
Oedipe was the winner of the Novice Riders and Veterans race but had to work hard under Jack Greenall who brought his mount late to get up on the line and beat The Gloves are off and Chris Cundall who continues in his attempt for a century of winners. Another fast finisher was Canada Street who staying on strongly at the finish and got third.
The First Division of the Open Maiden went the way of the David Easterby trained Chip N Pin who has gone close many times under rules, however finally got off the mark here. Piloted by Tom Greenall, the 5-2 Fav stayed on well to beat Cricket Bat and Mark Walford who were staying on powerfully up the hill but could not quite reach the winner. Chapel House ran another good race in defeat back in third and it shouldn't be too long before he wins.
Division two of the Maiden race became hard work for most of the field with only two of the eleven runners completing. Next Girl along with her pilot Sam Drake led from the start and never saw another rival, the pair stayed on well up the hill to win easy, with The Fabricator ten lengths back in second. Sam Drake has her horses in excellent form at the moment, with winners including recent hunter chase winner Keeverfield. Sam also looks a trainer to note as she trains all her own pointers and bought Next Girl as an un broken 4yo.
Division three of the maiden was won by Transporter and Tom Greenall who backed up there recent second at Sheriff Hutton by going one better here. The pair stayed on strongly to fend of Triggers Sun and John Dawson with a further six length gap back to Paint Me Silver.
The Hunt Members race went the way of Cherry Coward and her Daughter Jacqueline with Admiral Savannah. The pair travelled well in rear and after taking it up after two out, they sauntered clear to win easily. John Dillon stayed on very strongly from the rear for second, whilst early pacemaker Supreme Huntress stayed on well in third.
