27-year-old Emma Phillips rode her first winner on Beyond the Stars on this course 12 months ago. The Longdon based riders appearances have been few and far between since then but her inexperience was not evident in this race because she produced the 13-year-old, which she co-owns with trainer Scott Joynes, to take the lead between the final two fences.

Eastnor trainer Nicky Sheppard can be justifiably proud of Upton Adventures achievements this season after Peter Corbetts home bred mare landed her seventh win of the campaign in the Ladies Open during yesterdays North Ledbury Point to Point at Maisemore Park.

The 11-year-old had frightened off most of the opposition in this contest with just three rivals taking up the challenge. They were always fighting a losing battle after Emma James sent her mount to the front half way down the back straight and were left in splendid isolation when Scarrots refused at penultimate.

Jo Jeynes is based in the Longdon area and she sent out Autcaesar Autnihil to secure victory in the 8-year-old and upwards Maiden. Having failed to make the grade with previous trainer Rod Juckes the horse was acquired by the trainers husband David during the summer and has been making steady progress this season. Mark Munrowd’s mount took the lead at the 15th and the opposition were fighting a losing battle from this point trying to reduce the deficit.

Julian Pritchard teamed up with Hanley Castle owner Clive Hitchings to take the 5-6-7 year old Maiden with The Brooklet. The horses early season performances seem to bear out Hitchings’s comments that it had taken 6 months for The Brooklet to learn to gallop and another 6 months to jump and it has since been a case of combining these two activities. Pritchards mount was always up with the leaders and had sufficient reserves to withstand the challenge of Che Guevara.
