Both feature races at Laleston proved to be thrilling affairs. KHATANI overcame odds-on favourite SOHAPARA in the Men’s Open under Lee Stephens. This was a particularly good effort as KHATANI was giving the runner-up 12 pounds. KHATANI loves to hear his hooves rattle and will be hard to beat for the remainder of the season.  

BRETCHE, second in the corresponding race last year made all the running in the Ladies Open to defeat DE CHELLY by five lengths with DETROIT DAVY third.  

The Hunt race was won by the blinkered PETE THE PAINTER and James Tudor. They made all the running to win by a distance from the only other finisher THE LAST SHOOT.   CHESNUT WOOD slipped up on the bend with three fences to jump but appeared to be held at the time.  

QUESTIONAIRE and Marc Barber never gave odds on backers any worries in the Confined race, taking over the lead at half way she was never challenged and won as she liked by 8 lengths and a distance from RATHGIBBON and LIKE THE BUZZ.  

MY  NATIVE KNIGHT, a warm order in the Restricted race, decided to give his opponents upwards of thirty lengths start. He gradually made up the ground and briefly took the lead 3 fences out, however, the exertions were to prove too much and he faded to finish fourth.  

The race went to ALL FOR JAKE and Dai Jones who had been prominent most of the way. He prevailed by 6 lengths from DEEP DALE with WINNING TOWN a length away in third.  

The 5, 6, & 7 yrs Maiden was won in emphatic style by TROEDRHIWDALAR and Dai Jones by a distance from CAPACOOSTIC.  

The older horses maiden was equally smoothly won by DROM ISLAND and Fiona Wilson from CLARKYS CHOICE and MISS MAN.
